it should not be a business. that's the issue. that's the ENTIRE issue! every other customer service job you're REQUIRED to deal with abuse! they treat you like crap all the time and they demand insane things from you even if it's a shoe store! can't deal with people then don't work in "customer service". I'm not even trying to be mean. I'm in retail pharmacy and i quit bc i can't handle customer service. and it's mostly the institution's fault even though the patients can be rude asf

I think pa receives better schooling and training

Some schools without national accreditation still enable you to take your boards. New schools tend to seek accreditation afterwards. I was able to take my boards.

This hit home so much!! I refused to change an abx for a demanding patient who was also curing at me over the phone. Culture said she was on a good abx. She kept saying how she googled and talked to other doctors so I am wrong and rude. I told her I went to school for many years to provide good care. Next day manager comes in saying pt told her I said I was superior to her bc of my degree. Manager said I should’ve changed the medicine to make things easier. I feel like no one had my back

Current NP student. I have come across a handful of hospital job postings for NP positions that will state “ANCC credential preferred.” Again, only a handful though. I’ve read something about ANCC can look better for hospitals during recertification for Magnet status. But by far, most job postings don’t show any preference between the two credentials.

Growing up I was inclined to have a negative view towards NPs because I felt they weren’t as educated or experienced as MDs Physicians. But in reality I was the ignorant one. I didn’t know and understand their scope of practice and their education.

DNP should get respected, we can call ourselves Dr. In primary care, the difference between a DNP and a physician is very small.

I’m a nurse and my PCP is an NP. She’s been way more thorough and helpful and thoughtful than any Dr I’ve ever dealt with. NPs generally have a better bedside manner, due to their nursing background.

What did you switch to?

In my opinion all nurses do is pass pills whenever I’m in the hospital I always tell them how much I appreciate them I say thank you to the nurse but cna I paise they are the one that make it comfortable for you when your there everything you need they get and do so much more while have 40 + patients

I believe your school program matters. Our school provided us hands on simulations before introducing us to the clinicals. Most of our core courses were in person. I am working in an underserved area and our patients appreciate the services we provide.

So an NP can prescribe but not a crna? What if u started as np then went to crna? Still can’t?

It’s best if you work at a nursing home and your patient falls, just send them to the ER.

Too many nurses go straight to get there. NP without having enough experience as a staff nurse. Ive met many who just went though school, DO NOT PASS GO, I totally agree with this NP, classroom learning is 100% better than this on line degrees.

My first job out of school as an NP, I was assigned to travel between three clinics to see patients. All three Dr’s refused to participate in that State’s BON required 3 month follow the Dr orientation. Rather than risk my license I had no choice but to quit

I have been to some excellent PAs and I always appreciate them. But I want the final decision to be from a doctors exam. The lack of medical professionals is something that has been affected by the way our country has been infected these last years. Period. Thank you so much for making this video. You go to work every day and see what’s going on. I trust you more than peoples opinions who don’t know firsthand. There is so much more behind this than a shortage of doctors. We will not solve the problem by rushing people through to learn what they need to know in the medical field.🥰

It is your confidence, skills, and personhood that dictate how people think of you. I have seen RNs and NPs in hospitals and clinics that doctors look up to and respect. People can talk and talk but prove them wrong with how you are as a provider. The beauty about being an np is that there are so many avenues out there and unfortunately, not everyone knows what they want to do until they are years in to their practice. But once you’ve discovered this, there are ways to get where you want to be.

Please remember, venous CO2 actually reflects bicarb. This not necessarily tell you about hypercapnia unless the patient has metabolic compensation for respiratory acidosis. CO2 tells you more about possible causes of acidosis by calculating anion gap.
